Are frequent flyer programs worth the hassle?
I maybe about 15,000 miles of flying each year in all different carriers. Generally, my tendency has been to look for cheap flights on Orbitz or kayak and set aside this resulted in many airlines flying me than just a few times each, but saving a lot on each ticket. I signed up for frequent flyer programs for AA, Continental and U.S. Airways. I realized that these programs also give points to make purchases through affiliates (as 1800flowers) and dining in some restaurants. However, I am looking for some advice as to whether these programs are worth penalty. Let's say I buy some flowers and earn triple points.
